Christ-Centered Families

By Glenn Rosario

In a world where values drift and priorities sway with shifting winds, Christ-centered families rest hopeful and are anchored by stability, safety, and security. Rooted in the teachings of Jesus Christ, these families prioritize love, compassion and service as expressions of faith, characterizing their way of life.

Beginning the Journey

Hello everyone and thanks for stopping by! We're excited to have you join us on this journey as we fight for christ-centered families in our world. You may be wondering if such a thing ever existed. Maybe this is all new to you and maybe it's not necessarily brought up in your personal circles. Whatever the case, I encourage you to follow the leading of the Holy Spirit. We're excited to witness what God has in store for you and your loved ones!

Years ago, I met several families that lived "differently". I couldn't pinpoint what it was but there they were in front of me. They possessed a silent resolve that never wavered. My efforts to establish my own family as one that is christ-centered began in August of 1995. I came across this passage in the book of Psalms: "Those who are planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish in the courts of our God," (Psalm 92:13 NKJV). When I read that, my insides couldn't help but cry, "I want to flourish and I want my family to flourish, too!" After discussing this with my wife, Theresa, we decided on a fellowship to plant in. It was then that our whole world was flipped upside-down—or rather—flipped to what it was always meant to be.

Now when we first began this journey, there were four things that I focused on.

1.) I wanted a safe place for myself, my wife, and my children to grow spiritually.

Simply put, we needed a haven to grow knowledgable in scripture and to learn how to actually live it out. We found a local church to plant in and God has been faithful to grow our family and our ministry.

2.) There were things in my past—and a lot of them—that I needed to let go of.

I learned that in order to move forward, I needed to focus forward. I needed not to disregard the past, but to learn from it; to heal and to surrender it to God.

3.) I found friends that shared similar values.

It's encouraging to be with others that challenge, inspire, and affirm how you're progressing.

4.) I learned daily disciplines to help me define my inner convictions.

There is power in consistency, that's for sure. So, let's always ask ourselves, "What are consistencies that lead us toward being a Christ-centered family?"

I hope this encourages you to continue on your own journey of living a christ-centered life!
